Botox? Breast lift? Birkin bag?

It needn't cost a fortune to shave off the years and update your style.

In fact, says Charla Krupp, author of the bestselling How Not to Look Old (which came out in an updated paperback version earlier this month), looking youthful is often about knowing what not to wear.

"You can actually lose 10 years if you just get rid of the clothes, jewelry and accessories that are weighing you down and making you look like yesterday's news," Krupp says.

Krupp created this customized-for-South-Florida list of items whose expiration date has passed:

1. Thin gold necklaces

Sell them, Krupp says. It's rarely been easier to sell your gold for cash.

(While she's at it, Krupp urges women to nix necklaces that show how many grandchildren they have. 'Carry a brag book in your bag instead.')

2. Bras that lack bounce

Say bye-bye to that stretched-out bra (and, for that matter, tube tops and bustiers). 'You need to keep the girls up.'

3. Clip-on button earrings

'Not happening this decade!'

(Another aging accessory: 'Choker necklaces, which now choke you.')

4. Crocs

'Is there a more unflattering shoe?'

5. Cut-off shorts and Daisy Dukes

'Not classy at a certain age.'

6. Sparkly eye shadow

'Wearing this is like shining a spotlight on crinkly eyelids.'

7. Powder blush

'Like dusting the top of your wrinkles! Powder is the enemy of dry, aging skin.'

8. Dark, matte lipstick

'You need all the shine you can get - so no more matte, and keep it light! Pinky, peachy, not orange or red or wine.'

9. Dark lip pencil

'Drawing a line around your mouth and making it obvious will only exaggerate a thin lip line.'

10. Artificial nails

'Save yourself a ton of money and take these off! Grow your own nails and look younger and hipper.'

5 items to buy:

Wear these five always-youthful items, says How Not to Look Old author Charla Krupp:

1. A cotton shift dress

'So easy, just zip up and you're done. Lilly Pulitzer, even better.'

2. A tunic

'Dressy ones for evening, casual for the beach or shopping.'

3. White jeans

'Under everything! Even at night.'

4. A cropped cotton shrug

Wear it around your shoulders in overly air-conditioned shops, movie theaters or restaurants.

5. A slimming one-piece swimsuit

Keep it simple, in a dark jewel-toned solid color, and you'll look your best, Krupp says.
