How Not To Look Old Tip: Summer Hemlines

In the summer, we all have barbecues, outdoor parties and days at the beach, so there are more reasons than ever to look Younger & Hipper. But, when it's hot out there, what are you supposed to wear? It's easy to throw on just any old thing that keeps you cool, but there's no reason why you can't keep comfortable and still look stylish and hip.

The first thing to remember is that, just because it's summer, please don't throw all the rules out! Sure, we like to think back to the days when we could wear microminiskirts, but unless you have legs like Tina Turner (and let's face it, who does?), those are just too short, even in the summer. The right length for your skirts and dresses, in any season, is right at the knee. It's so much younger, hipper and better than a micromini or a pair of shorts!

HOW NOT TO LOOK OLD tip: Don't Dry Clean Your Jeans!

Photobucket

If you want to look Young & Hip this summer, don't dry clean your jeans! One of the tell-tale signs of looking old is a woman with perfectly creased blue jeans, since they're supposed to be more casual. After all, would a 20-year-old ever dry clean her jeans?

Instead, you should turn them inside out, put them in the washing machine and use a great laundry detergent that will keep the color vibrant, the shape intact, and preserve your pair's quality long after you buy them. I think Tide Total Care does a great job of this, so once you find your favorite pair of dark denim bootcut jeans, do your best to protect them as long as possible...and stash all that cash you saved at the dry cleaners!
